Hello! I am dot mandala artist Deborah Timpanaro. I am a well-traveled soul who captures my adventures, dreams, fears, hopes, loves and emotions in my art. My work captures and evokes emotions from those entrapped in my web of shapes and colors. These elements, while originally inspired by Buddhist art, come together to create a more modern and relatable art form.
I was born in 1975 in Plattsburgh, NY where I lived until I was 18. I then moved to Fayetteville, NC where I married and had 3 children. I eventually divorced and moved to Georgia where I married the love of my life, Stephen. This is where I found my true calling in the world of art.
As a child, I would draw dinosaurs and color with crayons daily. I loved what pictures looked like when they came together. I took many random art classes throughout the years and studied art appreciation in 2001 in college. As a mother, I liked to draw pictures and make coloring books for my children to trace and color. In 2021, I became part of the Wayne County Art Council in Jesup, GA, and started to manipulate different tools to create different forms of art. This included clay, cardboard, paint, paper and yarn. In 2023, I finally found my niche - painting mandalas.
When I get the feeling that I want to paint, I begin by grabbing a cup of coffee. This is VERY important! I open the curtains and use my senses to set the scene. Did you realize your senses can bring color vibes out? Think about it: if it's raining, you can "see" blue and gray colors. If it's sunny, you can "see" reds and yellows. If I meditate, I am drawn to certain colors like purple, green and yellow. This is how I get my pallets. I begin by taking out my acrylics and drawing a grid of circles on a medium. I grab a tool and begin dotting. This is how this website began. I thank you all and I love you very much!
